It's the new round pen that I built a few months ago. Imagine.....spending 3-4 days on construction, just so Jeanette can have the horses run in circles :-)
This is located in the Lower Arena......next to the creek-side. A stone's throw from the stable...and there is a structure down there already.....for shade. Benches and a storage unit will be placed into the shade structure for connivance.
The choice of buying a unit or building a unit was easy. To buy a 60' round pen which consists of (15) 12' long panels 5'3" tall and (1) 4' wide gate is $1350.00 at the retailer. To build one was $240.00 complete.
The timber was on sale at Home Depot @ $2.00. I sealed each end with roofing tar (my Father's old trick) to keep the termites and such at bay. Each support post is seven feet to the next.....anchored in the ground with concrete. Eight foot timbers are placed in such a pattern as seen in the picture above, that there was absolutely no sawing required for this project.
Now...........we have three dizzy horses.
