From twig to tree in 30 months....

Hard to believe that Farmer Deno installed this orchard just a few years ago. Several  varieties were purchased as "whips" in one gallon containers. A whip is exactly what the trees looked like....no leafs...about 4 feet in height. Twigs!
I picked the worst of the worst area of the land to install these at. Cleared out the debris left by the previous ...numerous...tenants of the land. Got the water lines out there. All this for perhaps the best tasting fruit that I have ever had! More detail on the fruit coming soon...and the preserves that we made.
Pluots are not one of the fruits that you see in grocery stores everyday. The pluot tree is a hybrid cross between an apricot and plum tree. This fast growing tree requires little maintenance and produces showy flowers in the spring, sweet fruit in the summer and colorful leaves in the fall.
