The creek restoration project is finally completed. Old tires to "what the hell is this ?" was removed. The section shown had a serious erosion issue....evident by looking at the mini Grand Canyon that was there. At one point, there was a 4 foot deep by 6 foot wide by 15 feet length section that was getting worst each winter .

The fear of this mini Grand Canyon was that a horse might fall into it.......or someone running across the upper area and fall into this hazard. Also...the soil lost was disturbing.

A new fence line was installed a few days ago, as seen in the picture. Planting of a variety of plants and watering the weeds of the area will give it a good cover by winter......the cover will help keep the soil stable....and not wash away.

It's no fun to wallow in the mud. While fixing the issue of the creek....the round pen area was worked on as well. Each winter brings us a overflowing creek that raises up to the round pen.....and then the water would get land locked there as the creek receded.

This "fix" will allow the use of our "Lower Arena" ......as that area is name......to use much sooner after the rains. It took a day or two to carve out the drainage system.....something that should be done while the ground is stiff soft from the winter's rains. Had I tried to do this during the summer...........I'd still be out there trying to break the ground :-(

It was a hard task to do....as you can see that Supervisor Black was inspecting every single square foot of my work. Well....at least I was rewarded with a Milk Bone for the good work.
