The little twigs that I planted four years ago for shade against the end of the farm house are now 16 feet high......and produce a sweet fruit that we all love.....called cherries! There's a good 20 pies worth of cherries on each or these young trees :-)
For the first time in the history of the Natomas Farm.....a fruit picking ladder was brought out ....for use of harvesting. That itself is exciting as it is a measurement of time that has passed upon the farm.
So I washed the 12 foot ladder....checked to make sure that it was in a good working order. Dragged that thing halfway across the farm to pick our future Cherry pies. Oh yummy.....just the thought of having a heap of vanilla ice cream up top of a chunk of homemade cherry pie.....gave me the strength to get that ladder there!
There was only ten pies left when I arrived.
