The weather has been so "mercifully" well-timed to deliver blasting sun and furnace heat ..........the very day I decided to start this frontage road improvement. Should there be another heat wave hitting the Sacramento valley.....you'll know that Farmer Deno has started another project!
In a post done about 4-5 weeks ago.....I was talking about cleaning up the main road......re landscaping....drainage.....new entrance leading down into the farming area......and an host of other improvements. My commitment to beautify the entire perimeter of the farm is just about completed......
The Baily trees are planted......complimented by lavender shrubs and tall sun flower plants .
All that brown stuff on the ground....is wood chips. We use wood chips here for numerous projects in the field.....such as mulching material for the trees and shrubs.....weed and moister control for some of the crops....and believe it or not, we use chips for surface pavement !
The use of standard paving materials such as pea gravel and asphalt...is not only expensive....the materials retain heat. Heat is the very thing I don't want anymore of :-) The chips have a great natural look to them....and has an great ability to make your wallet fatter...........
Driving up to our land ......now truly looks like a farm.
