At the fruit stand......in about three years

Can you wait for three years to taste these special peaches? I certainly hope so......for the Natomas farm has just placed our orders for the 2013 fruit trees. These new trees will arrive in January.....for installation in February. Fact is.....we are expanding our orchards by 30%.

A new orchard is being created on the hillside......right below our hill top house. This is where the Red Bartlett aka “Summer Pears” will be. Next on the list of arriving trees are the King Pluots. These are the best of the best. A spotted dark ruby fruit that demands a handful of napkins when you eat them. These.....are my favorite of all fruits.

The apple orchard got beat up real bad a few years ago by a disease called "Blight". I have several postings about the dire battles of the blight here at the farm.....but I did manage to save 70% of the apple orchards. The incoming replacement trees will be "Honey Crisp" apple. Take a bite of this crispy apple and you will take note of the distance honey flavor.

Last year's test orchard was our Rio Oro Gem Peach trees. Outstanding....BIG....juicy....and takes two hands to hold :-) I am impressed with this variety.  The birds gave their two beaks up for their opinion. You know.....if the birds are not eating the fruit off the trees...then it must be lousy fruit !

You will not find these being grown by an large farm operation.....just too hard to grow. The Natomas Farm will be a prime supplier of these fruits to our area. This orchard will be directly next to out fruit stand.

Oh.....oh oh oh.....I can smell peach cobbler already
