It's becoming a little social center.........

Our new fruit stand is just full of little surprises. I am not talking about the sales....or the issues of the start up......it's the social element it has attracted. Reminds me of those old days where the town folk sat around at the store...."chewing the fat". Oh.....aka......"shooting the breeze".

Back in time Farmer Deno was Nightclub Deno. I built and operated nightclubs in the Sacramento area and San Francisco. The weekends were full of the social element. Farming has been a very quiet little existence for five years......and now that is changing rapidly with the fruit stand. That's good. I was beginning to talk to the tomatoes...........

We have had costumers come back the following weekend with their apple deserts made for us.......had a little girl sing Old McDonald farm....folks passing by, only to stop to chat. We actually had a little crowd last week that was loud with laughter. I must add that we now know more neighbors too.

A good example of this growing social element of the farm is today...when a woman and her friend came to our fruit stand....from downtown I assume.....to pick up her prearranged buy of figs. All smiles....great personality.....loved the dogs that were bothering her....and had some great things to say about homemade jams. She even insisted on emailing me some information about making preserves (and she did). Thanks Kristen!

She got her figs for half price. The Natomas Farms appreciates good folks coming by.

For you nosy readers that are wondering just what  Kristen sent to me in the email......well.....information about not having to use store bought pectin in preserves and jellies. This pectin stuff is really costly.

For the jelly and preserve makers reading here.....here is the link she sent:
