............Freezing is also a great














Keep the fresh flavor of ripe summer pluots to enjoy later in the year by simply freezing them. Freezing is also a great way to set aside ripe pluots to cook in bake goods or turn into jam when you have more time. This same method works for freezing apricots, plums, peaches, and nectarines, too.

Here's how Farmer Deno is doing the freeze......take the pluot and simply "break" it in half with your fingers. Take a spoon and scoop out the seed. Place the two half's onto large cookie sheets. Repeat til the cookie sheet is full...but not stacked. Place into freeze for a quick freeze.

Now take those sheets out about two hours later.......and scrape off the frozen fruit into plastic 5 gallon buckets / with lids. Mark the lids with "Pluots 2013". Set back into the freezer.

Dont just plop all the fruit into a bucket and throw it into the deep freeze. You will end up with a 25 pound block of headache.  Quick freeze allows you to use as needed.

So on the next raining day.......just pop out a bucket of fruit from the freezer to make your goods. Any "donation" of jam, pie or sauce would be greatly appreciated by Farmer Deno for this wonderful knowledge I just bequeathed to you :-)
