It seems that our chicken coop is getting taken over by a very large family of squirrels. For fives years here....I have never seen a squirrel......which by the way there are hundreds where our home was.....downtown Sacramento.
It all makes sense that we finally got squirrels. We are importing cords of firewood and tree mulch.....I am sure that a few of the critters survived that branch shredder machine. Then again...how many didn't. There is a large walnut tree in the coop yard ....a great food source for them.
This recent discovery is really not good news for the farm. These critters will eat the chicken eggs...........perhaps even scaring the chickens by their recent appearance into not laying eggs. Our egg count is way off for the last few months too. Who knows.....it will be the fruits trees next....and then the house wiring. Just like it was at our downtown home.
Time to take back the coop........
