.....horses that wont share with the humans

Our farm is nested in a very cool area of the outskirts of Sacramento....Rio Linda, the town that once had a very bad reputation. There were second thoughts about moving here that lasted about a day.....

Moving to the farm meant moving away from all that city noise such as the constant night time police helicopters.....the  firetrucks.....and the idiots doing "donuts" in the middle of the street intersection with their hotrod cars. Our prior neighbor had a car alarm that went off 3-4 times a night for over two years. Now we live on a farm in quiet Rio Linda .....that holds great folks.

Farming here has worked out very well.  The local businesses gives me access to a hardware store .....fuel.....two fast food hamburger joints....and the local bar that is posing as a great steak house. It's really cool when the owners of these businesses call you by your first name....as well as many of our neighbors do also. So unlike city living. Farmer Deno used to build and operate Night Clubs in Sacramento and San Francisco......so one can surely see the difference of living. I love it here. Jeanette loves it here. The dogs really love it here.

The three horses love it here too....

Here in this small hide away town from the city.....everyone it seems has a horse or three. This area was built for horses. There is a riding public arena.......creek side trails.....town trails.....Gibson Ranch.....and endless list of horse recreation within a 10 minute horse ride from our farm. No real need for the trailer.

So what does all this have to do with my blog here ...that is suppose to be about building a farm?

Everything. Just everything.

Some guys and gals retire...or get the mentality that life is over at the ripe old age of 55. This life here in Rio Linda has unclogged my mind of the city trash I was so accustomed to.....the farm has not only given me physical strength .....the constant motivation of creating a really cool farm keeps me young. I am 60 years of age .....going on 40. Thanks Rio Linda. Thanks farm.

Yes...I can still lift a 100 pound bag of concrete!

Now dont take my word for all of this "wonderful little ol town" stuff I have been bragging about. Drive on out here to our lil' town and grab a bite from the hamburger joint in town. On any given day you'll see the crew of Toni B. Little and their horses tied up over there at Bullwinkles......where do you see that in the city?

I feel sorry for Toni.....having to stand there and watch the horses eat their lunches :-)
