I was reading thru the Craigslist site a few months ago.....and found a Cub Cadet 1500 52 inch mower that was being offered for $75.oo
Wow......but it had a blown engine. Still a wow. That rear grass catcher alone sells for $800.oo So I called the guy that had it for sale....talked a little.....then I made a run for it since he told me that the transmission and drive line was replaced a year ago. This all fits the grand scheme of our farm policies to try to recycled or......here's that magic word again.... Re-purpose before buying new. It's better on our environment.....and better on the budget. It's all about being a sustainable farm.
Now our other Cub does not have a grass catcher. With the new tractor.....we can now mow between the orchards, save the grass to save money on horse feed. Yes.....mow n throw over the fence!

But the real reason why I wanted this much bigger riding mower is that it's part of the grand scheme of our sustainable farming.....by buying attachments for this unit .....I can do without using a large tractor. Saves on fuel, less pollution to the environment....and the lightness of it wont compact my soil so much.
Fact is there are many attachments for riding lawn movers such as tillers, micro front loaders, box scraper, roller......and so many other options. Only if you have a large HP engine and a large rider mower can this concept work. Anything smaller will just give you tears.

The best part of the riding mowers is this: tell the Grandkids that they can mow the orchards.....like a quad runner. They be fighting over the ol' "it's my turn"!
