...I dont brag 7 days a week

I'll keep this short so that you wont get bored with reading about my limited accomplishments. It is official now that my blog is part of the Sacramento Bee. Sacramento Connect. It's located in their on line newspaper.

This blog started at the request of my son number two, Wade. He lives down there in Henderson, NV which makes it tough to get up here with the carload of grandkids......to visit the farm. The farm now goes to them....via Internet. They can read my posts about my building of this farm, the cool things that I discover each week from the land, the payoffs and then the disappoints too.

Turns out that this site is the perfect blog for newbies that are starting a farm. Learn from my accomplishments and mistakes! Reality is given here. Then there are the folks that are thinking about becoming a farm operator....this blog helps a fresh fish get the real feeling before committing themselves to the insane asylum......whoops....farm.

Becoming a farmer often involves moving to a small community. We chose Rio Linda. Hesitantly I might add. One hears rumors and tales about neighborhoods. My blog tells of the wonderful folks we discovered here in Rio Linda. The merchants get to know you by your first name. They actually look you in the eye and say Hi! Then there is a joint named Tummy's off the main drag where the old timers hang out for their sunrise coffee. Heck...small town Rio Linda has a Masonic Lodge and the Elks.  The very helpful food bank operated by Sara Williams of https://www.facebook.com/riolindaelverta.foodcloset?fref=ts . is a good example of decent folks that live here. Besides my blog being about our farm and .....and at times about Rio Linda .....there are great sites dedicated to our town. Check them out....

John Todd has a great town paper http://www.riolindaonline.com/
that concentrates on our local news and events. Some farmer has a story about his blog  in this "on line" paper too :-) This is the only news site that I read.....it's great.

Wendy Whitehouse runs the https://www.facebook.com/groups/Riolindaca/  and what a great place it is to make the acquaintance with the residents of our hometown. Never a dull moment at Wendy's site. For example....I and 1400 members of this site just learned a lot about the lady that has excellent tamales that she sells at the local shopping center. Thanks Kevin! Posted too are lost/found dogs to community events. Lot's of blab blab blab of the town too :-) I love it!

As I said...I don't brag seven days a week. Just six.
