The Luther Burbanks Thornless Opuntia cactus is a specialty crop that we grow here at the Natomas Farm..... is a real cool crop that Farmer Deno thinks not too many folks really know how great this stuff is. It is simply better than the Aloe Vera. Opuntia cactus does mend minor burns, scratches and cuts, skin rashes and all the other claims that Aloe Vera has. Google it and you'll see that comparison.

Now I am not a doctor.....but there are claims that Opuntia cactus is great for high blood pressure and other ailments. Everyone should plant one of these in their yard!

However: I am a candy freak that loves hard candy made with Opuntia cactus fruit....the prickly pear. Most folks never heard of such a thing....unless you grew up in Los Angeles where http://www.olvera-street.com/  is located. Every single elementary grade school kid would take a field trip there with their class. There were those funny Mexican jumping beans, sandals with car tire tread as souls, the charcoal fire taquitos and all the Mexican music being played. Out of hundreds of cool items of merchandise....that cactus candy was the best!

Now you know why Farmer Deno decided to make Thornless Opuntia cactus one of our farm's specialty crops.
