.......we added 40 more little whippersnappers

A few short years ago......I planted four varieties of Pluots. Short and skinny little sticks with few leaves on them.....known in the business as "whips". Farms will buy whips for the cost factor involved. The labor factor as well.

Labor installing these whips is on a minimum cost...compared to digging holes for the five gallon containers. No worry....these whips will grow faster than you think. In four years.....they are the picture above!

I must say....... that I intentionally picked the worst spot on the farm to plant these "weirdo" pluots. The soil was hard as a rock. Seemed void of soil life. Water pooled up in the area during the storms. All 70 trees did a "Jack and the Beanstalk"  growth within months......and now I run around this orchard looking for that Golden Goose!

It feels great to stand within this orchard. To feel the cooler air. The shade. Aromatics in full swing. Pride in what I have accomplished.....from a arid piece of junk land.  Turns out that "these "weirdo" pluots"......has become the top seller here at our farm.

So much so.....we added 40 more little whippersnappers.
