.....a Cucurbitaceae. Uniqueness sells.

This year we are adding a new melon.....actually we are adding 7 new varieties of melons. I want to talk about this Ein Dor Melon....known for its intense aromatic perfume and very sweet flavor with a hint of cotton candy and marzipan.

It took me forever to find the seeds. A very rare melon....found to be farmed in Israel.....which grows more than forty types of fruits....... and exports most of it internationally. Israel has diverse climates that enable it to grow a wide range of crops. Avocados, Dates, Loquats, Pistachio Nut, Jaffa oranges......bananas!

So why are we going to grow Ein Dor Melons? Our farm has 58 produce items that are not found in a standard supermarket.....or at most farmer's markets. We have known for a long time that the consumer wants something more than the same ol' stuff each day. We also knew that selling unique produce has no competitors.

So far......our unique concept has worked out very well. We just finished a total sell out of our blood oranges. The figs, boysenberries and pluots are sell outs as fast as we can harvest! Now we have orange watermelons... white cantaloupes....two pound peaches (yes, I said two pound peaches!).......and the blood plums that are killer.

This is why we are bout to grow the Ein Dor Melon. Uniqueness sells.
