Yes.....the cluckers have discovered the tasty Styrofoam that I am installing in this room.....the future walk in cooler box. Butcher ...er...Farmer Deno caught a handful of the chickens in here.....just gorging down the a la cart Styrofoam.
There are several projects currently ongoing here at the farm. One of those project is the walk in cooler box that I am building. This project is done during the rainy days or whenever I have an little extra time on my hands. This walk in does not have to be ready until next April.....when the fruit and produce is at a point for harvesting. It is critical to cool down the field's bounty..... rapidly..... once harvested.
This was the old supply room that was here when the farm was purchased.....and now is being made into a useful space. The walls are being lined with 4 inch Styrofoam (recycled from hot tub covers) ....then a blanket sheet of Styrofoam (recycled from a construction site)......6 mil plastic sheet over that.....then it is all to be paneled with plywood. Using recycle material knocks off 60% of the cost of construction materials.
Now...........we have "lite" chickens for sale..... for those of you watching your calories :-)
