I never give up...I just keep pounding away til' I win

Sometimes one just has to scrap it all and start all over again. This is what Farmer Deno ended up doing with the chickens. I never give up...I just keep pounding away til' I win :-)

If you have been following the blog for a few months.....you should remember that we had a squirrel infestation in the chicken yard. These cute little guys were scaring the heck out of the chickens......and we all know that scare little chickens won't lay eggs. Not a one!

I suspected that the adorable looking rodents were perhaps stealing eggs also.....if there were any laid.

In order to start fresh with the egg production....all the chickens were removed to another farm......trap cages were set for the squirrels....then after catching them I set kill bait out to make sure that the rodents were no longer. The bait thankfully is still in place after ten days. I really hate to kill anything.

Yes......the area never had squirrels until we started to import wood and mulch from the tree service.

I am sanitizing the coops and the entire yard for any bacterium that may had a part in causing the chickens not to lay. Finally.....to say.....I believe we got rid of all the stray cats (cats will scare chickens too).

If you think that raising chickens is an easy thing to do.....think twice. We have experienced just about every issue with them.....and that was a lot of issues! I believe we are now ready to try this all  over again. New chicks in 6 weeks......eggs in 6 months.

If we fail again...I bought an Acme Portable Roasting unit.
